Welcome to the Westview High School Robotics website!
We are excited for the upcoming year and we want you to feel the same way after looking through our website. We are known as Team 3341, and we mainly compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. As a rookie team in 2010, we were the winners of the San Diego FIRST Regional Rookie Inspiration Award for our outreach to our community and embodying the mission of FIRST.
This year, the club will expand our involvement in our community by increasing our outreach to schools in our area and help them achieve success in their respective robotics competition. We will mentor younger students in the FIRST Lego League. We will also increase our outreach to Jr. FLL and FTC teams, by holding expos for Jr. FLL teams and working alongside other FTC teams with our three FTC teams this year.
We also hope to get more people to learn about science and technology. It is our mission to increase the public's knowledge about the potential of science and technology in our near future. Along with our mission, our club has a goal this year for ourselves; that is to perform well in regional competitions and reach the International FIRST Championship in 2011!

FIRST which stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology", is an organization promoting science and technology which focuses on inspiring students to become leaders in their respective fields. Their goal is to incite interest among young people by forming mentor-based programs that not only teach them about science and technology but also encourage innovation and "well-rounded life capabilities".
FRC or FIRST Robotics Competition is both a sport and educational program in the fields of science and technology. The competition is structured strictly and always involves building a robot to complete a task and compete against others. Mentors guide students each step of the way in order to emulate a real-world engineering experience. The program allows you to work with professionals, build and compete your own robot, learn and use software and hardware, compete in tournaments and the world championship, and qualify for over $12 million in scholarships.
